The City Club is the British Embassy network dedicated to UK and Chinese financial professionals based in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Regular events are held under the City Club banner, offering those involved with the UK and with financial services in China an exclusive opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals.
The City Club was officially launched in Shanghai by the Lord Mayor of the City of London and the then-Shanghai Consul General in February 2017. The Beijing City Club was launched in 2017 by then-UK Chancellor Philip Hammond. Since 2018, Experian, the leading global information services company, has been the exclusive sponsor of the City Club.
The City Club organises bespoke events and roundtables for professionals who are working in the financial and professional services sectors that have strong ties to the UK. It also provides exclusive events for face-to-face meetings between political and financial leaders from both countries.

2020 October, Shanghai
HM Ambassador's visit
We were delighted to host a City Club event in Shanghai in October 2020, to mark the occasion of Her Majesty's Ambassador Dame Caroline Wilson's first visit to the city.
Over 200 guests from 150+ financial institutions and organisations were with us to welcome the new HM Ambassador.
2019 June, London
City Club Reception in the UK
We were delighted to host a City Club event in London in June 2019 to celebrate the success of Financial Services Summit.
Over 150 guests joined us at Sky Garden on the sidelines of the 10th UK-China Economic and Financial Dialogue.
2018 December, Beijing
City Club Christmas Reception
We were delighted to host a City Club event in Beijing in December 2018.
Over 200 guests joined us at Her Majesty's Ambassador's residence to celebrate the Christmas of 2018.
2018 October, Shanghai
Announcing Experian's Sponsorship of the City Club
Experian and the UK Department for International Trade started a close partnership at the City Club event. This partnership was announced on 11 October 2018 by Mr HUANG Jian, then-CEO of Experian Greater China, and Mr. Richard Burn, then-HM Trade Commissioner for China.
The announcement of the partnership saw Experian's support for the City Club as a sponsor for events under the City Club brand, starting in the 2019-2020 Financial Year.
2017 December, Beijing
City Club Beijing Launch Reception
We were delighted to officially launch the first City Club event in Beijing in December 2017, on the occasion of the UK Chancellor Philip Hammond's visit to Beijing.
Over 600 guests from a variety of different financial institutions and organisations were with us to witness this ceremony.

We were delighted to host a City Club in Shanghai in November 2017, to welcome the new Minister of State, Department for International Trade, Baroness Rona Fairhead during her visit to China.
Over 300 guests including the former Her Majesty's Ambassador, Dame Barbara Woodward were present to enjoy the showcase.
